Should Leicester sell Wesley Fofana this summer?
For me this simply comes down to whether Chelsea meet our valuation, which appears to be somewhere around £85m. Fofana has made it clear that he wants the move, but he will have been told when he signed his new deal (all that time ago in March 2022) that until the asking price is met, he's going nowhere.
As a club we are renowned for not wavering until our valuation is met. Some could argue that this has previously led to players being sold for more than they are 'worth', which is an excruciating point of discussion between fans which I don't care to take part in (with the exception of the next paragraph).
Fofana is already one of the best centre backs in the Premier League and will become one of the best in the world. Transfer fees are impossible to quantify at the best of times, but considering his age, contract length, and quality/ceiling, we could justifiably ask for £100m+. Rival fans would scoff at this either because they have not witnessed Fofana's quality, or most likely because it's Little Old Leicester applying the price tag.

This is a really tough one. He’s arguably the best player at the club and is destined to become one of the most expensive defenders in the world. To have an asset like him is huge and up until recent weeks, he seemed to love being at Leicester.
However, with his recent social media antics and clear half-hearted body language on Sunday, it seems like he wants out. That’s where the issue is. The club won’t want to lose such an influential player, but if his heart’s not in it then what’s the point in keeping him?
As much as I would love for him to stay and think he will go on to become one of the best defenders in the world, I think it’s better to sell him, but only for the price we set. £85m or more should do it.

Absolutely not. Last season proved the back-up defenders are not good enough and this wouldn't leave us enough time to sort a good replacement without being extorted.
Even if Wes' heart isn't in it here, he has a personal goal to get into the France World Cup squad so he will be wanting to impress rather than downing tools. Another good season with us and it'll add even more to his price tag.

Absolutely not, at any price. He's absolutely vital to us and what we can do this season. Selling him even for £100m wouldn’t mean we could go out and buy a number of players; the squad is too big and we'd have to replace him, which would be with a downgrade.
People are quick to over-analyse someone's every move after a transfer link too. There’s little to no evidence he 'wants to leave' yet people calling for him to be benched because he changed his twitter bio, which is ridiculous.
He will 100% become the most expensive defender of all time and will deserve it. Let him go and become a Galactico at Real Madrid in a year or two.

The answer is clearly no, because he’s not going to depreciate in value. But it partly depends on his mindset - it’s dodgy territory keeping hold of a player who doesn’t want to be at the club.
If we were still Well-Run Leicester City with, oh, I don’t know, a head of recruitment in post during the transfer window and a track record of not signing multiple defenders from teams we’ve beaten 9-0, perhaps a sale would be more palatable. But no. I don’t think any of us trust the club to bring in a decent replacement at this stage of the window.
I’m trying, and failing, to ignore the endless clickbait articles and mind-numbing Twitter accounts about all of this. It is enjoyable though to see the outrage from fans of other clubs, pundits and even journalists about a football club demanding a lower price tag be placed on one of the best young talents in the game. He’s that good. Pay it or get lost.

We get asked to give answers of two-to-three paragraphs for these questions, and the hardest part about this one is that it can so easily be answered using only two letters.
By all accounts we don't need to sell; and doing so would significantly weaken not only our back line, but the entire team. Unless we're offered a world record fee, I wouldn't even consider it. Even if we were, I'd probably still feel inclined to say that another year at the KP wouldn't leave us out of pocket next summer.
If Little Wes truly is happy here, as reports are suggesting, then we'd be silly to let him go now.
