The Fosse Way
Matchday
Liverpool 3 Leicester City 1: A shock win for the Reds
Leftover turkey sandwiches, black and white films, Leicester not winning at Anfield. This was the seventh time in ten years Leicester and Liverpool have met between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. It took place exactly 40 years after Leicester won 2-1 thanks to Gary Lineker’s goal in front of the Kop. And to the surprise of absolutely nobody, Liverpool won.
Leicester City 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers 3: The Ward Supremacy
Did you enjoy the free beer?
Newcastle 4 Leicester City 0: The Nightmare Before Christmas
Put down your mince pies and maybe pour a slightly bigger than recommended glass of mulled wine to process what we just watched. This was a Leicester City away day at Newcastle, less about spreading festive joy and more delivering the nightmare before Christmas.
Leicester 2 Brighton 2 - Foxes weather the storm to salvage a late point
A lot of people streamed out of the King Power, soggy and disappointed as substitute Minteh put Brighton 2-0 up. But Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side embodied the Foxes Never Quit strapline, spearheaded by our captain to salvage a late point.
The Seagulls couldn’t stop him and neither could Storm Darragh. It’s Jamie Vardy’s world and all we can do as Foxes fans is revel in it.
Leicester City 3 West Ham 1: The Flying Dutchmen
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first game as Leicester City manager was the night football became fun again.
Brentford 4 Leicester City 1: A tactical and defensive fright show to welcome Ruud
New manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy was in the stands, next to Top. Nothing can destroy some newfound hope or excitement among Leicester fans like a trip to London to take on a Brentford side who hadn't beaten Leicester since 1953 and with their forward, Kevin Schade, having not scored this season.
You know the script.
Leicester City 1 Chelsea 2: A villain, a local lad and an ex-manager play their roles
Externally, we've hit the point in the season where media figures can't understand what Leicester fans are concerned about.
Internally, we may not be in the drop zone yet, but the last win was over a month ago, and well, we’ve been here before so it's hard to generate positivity.
Win or not, we needed to see something to inspire some faith as Enzo Maresca rolled back into town.
Leicester City Women 0 Manchester United Women 2: Who you gonna call?
When you’ve scored two goals in seven games, who you gonna call? If you’re Amandine Miquel then you flick through your phone book for defensive midfielders.
It was Ruby Mace at Villa Park. It was Saori Takarada yesterday for the visit of Manchester United.
Manchester United 3 Leicester City 0: Wright writes up a write-off
With Manchester United struggling in the bottom half of the table, Steve Cooper’s Foxes had an opportunity to make a statement against their illustrious hosts on Sunday.
Ipswich Town 1 Leicester City 1: Soumaré to the rescue
Winless Ipswich and a Leicester side whose record at Portman Road isn’t inspirational. The odds didn’t set this one up to be a thriller. Becky Taylor was in the sauna stands to see if this away day could offer any positives.
Manchester United 5 Leicester City 2: We must be mad
2300 brave, or mad, Leicester City fans who trudged up to Old Trafford for the Carabao Cup tie. A lot of these fans will be making the trip again in a couple of weeks for the league game. Were they rewarded for their efforts? Becky Taylor was one of them reporting back.
Leicester City 1 Nottingham Forest 3: The search for scapegoats
As the temporarily red segment of the King Power Stadium celebrated wildly at the end of a chastening night for Leicester City supporters, in the home sections the search for scapegoats was well underway.
Southampton 2 Leicester City 3: Fatawu the orchestrator in crazy comeback
Winless Southampton and a Leicester side who have had their fair share of good times at St Mary's. You'd have thought our luck, and efforts, were running out based on the half time score and first half performance. But supporting Leicester City is bonkers. Strap in.
Aston Villa 0 Leicester City 0: The 94th minute, 39 hours later
After the 90 minutes were up and the fourth official signalled a further four were to be played, it was in the fourth of these minutes that the ball fell to a player in a claret and blue shirt exactly six yards from goal.
Leicester City 0 Crystal Palace 2: Home truths as the Eagles land historic firsts
Crystal Palace are the latest promoted team to try their luck at avoiding relegation from the WSL at the first attempt. Bristol City failed to bridge that gap last season, although the previous two years saw the newly-promoted sides stay up. In 2023, it was Liverpool. In 2022, it was Leicester City.
Leicester City 1 Bournemouth 0: Finally, that winning feeling for Cooper
Leicester's record against Bournemouth, coupled with recent form, didn't leave many feeling confident pre match. The odds of a stalemate were high, so be honest, who had a tight 1-0 and a clean sheet on this week's bingo card?
Arsenal 4 Leicester City 2: Another Jekyll and Hyde show in London
Arsenal were looking to make it a sixth straight win over Leicester. The Foxes are still chasing a first league win and that was unlikely at the Emirates. What the travelling fans wanted to see was a reaction, some fight. But this is Leicester and we're a mad club, so strap in.
Walsall 0 Leicester City 0 (0-3 on pens): A tale of two Welshmen
Back in the halcyon days of 2023 and the past beyond, if your unimportant football club was drawn away from home against even less glamorous opposition in an early round of the least prestigious competition, you had so many outs.
Liverpool 1 Leicester City 1: A new start, a familiar finishing Finn
This is a new era for Leicester City Women - as we covered last week, there are new faces in defence, in midfield and up front. But most of all, this is now Amandine Miquel’s time. And to properly start a new era with a new statement, you need to get a result.
Leicester City 1 Everton 1: Thunder and lightning, very very frightening
Two relegation-threatened teams duelling themselves to a futile draw, played out to the backdrop of one of the most apocalyptic weather displays you’re likely to see in English football. Pure Barclays.
