Who should replace James Maddison against Leeds?

Without changing the whole shape of the side, I think realistically the only option is Ayoze Perez. In the absence of a proper right-winger, he's probably the best option to be shoehorned out wide.

Obviously, we have Albrighton and Praet who can also play there but in terms of like for like replacements for Maddison, then Perez is the closest and can provide a bit of creativity as opposed to the others.

I can't recall him featuring much this season, so he should be desperate to prove a point to the manager and the fans that he should be playing more often.

As long as we don't see Iheanacho wide right again, I'll probably be satisfied!

There’s an argument that Perez is the most like-for-like replacement for Maddison. But it would be a bit like replacing Cristiano Ronaldo in his prime with that bust they unveiled at Madeira airport.

Iheanacho scores goals and we need to win. It’s as simple as that, really. You can cope with his lack of defensive work if he’s playing instead of Maddison rather than alongside him. Don’t overthink this.

Unfortunately for us, no-one can actually replace Madders for us in terms of how much he's carried us for a long time.

Whenever a question like this is posed I think first to my preference and then to what's more likely. My preferred option is Iheanacho coming in, he just looks to make things happen, and to quote myself on previous answers 'his stats don't lie'.

I actually wouldn't be surprised however, if Brendan brought Perez out the woodwork. He goes hot and cold with some players and he's played him in that position plenty before he might go for him to avoid changing the shape.

It'd take a brave man to do that though, considering majority of our fanbase hate Perez more than Brendan.

Just get on with it and play Kel, I say.

Iheanacho, and it’s not even close. He can play a similar inside forward/free roaming attacking role as Maddison has been, and would become the main creative outlet.

We all know that Iheanacho is a bit of an enigma, but put him in the side and more often than not he will make things happen. It was frustrating to see him only given 5 minutes on Saturday in a game that needed an additional creative spark.

The alternatives (Perez, Albrighton, Praet) simply don’t offer enough in attack.

Matt Jedruch

Eugh, this is a tough one. So many of his bookings this season have been avoidable - silly, petulant tackles and now a dive that Harry Kane would have been proud of.

For me, we have to get Kelechi in the team. It might require a bit of a mix up in tactics, but the other potential options of Perez or Albrighton are just uninspiring.

Having said that, I think we’re actually most likely to see Brendan sticking Praet in and playing him out of position.

Given the Leeds propensity to play the game at 100 miles per hour, let's embrace the chaos and play Kelechi Iheanacho in the same role coming off the right. It didn't quite work out in the few minutes he got against Palace but at least it looked like something might happen.

We're scoring goals, relatively speaking, but Maddison has been a huge part of that. Although Iheanacho hasn't set the world on fire yet this season, we need as many players as possible in the team who can actually score. We're getting nothing from the defence or midfield.
